Clobetasol – A powerful corticosteroid

Clobetasol is a very strong corticosteroid used topically. Clobetasol topical is used to treat the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various scalp and skin conditions, including, psoriasis, a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body and eczema, a skin disease that causes the skin to be dry and itchy and to sometimes develop red, scaly rashes.

Clobetasol propionate exerts its effect by binding to cytoplasmic glucocorticoid receptors and subsequently activates glucocorticoid receptor mediated gene expression. This results in synthesis of certain anti-inflammatory proteins, while inhibiting the synthesis of certain inflammatory mediators.

Miconazole – An Antifungal

Topical miconazole is used to treat Tinea corporis, ringworm infection, a fungal skin infection that causes a red scaly rash on different parts of the body, Tinea cruris, Jock itch, a fungal infection of the skin in the groin or buttocks and Tinea pedis, Athlete’s foot, a fungal infection of the skin on the feet and between the toes.

Miconazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a major component of fungal cell membranes. This interferes with the barrier function of the membrane and with membrane-bound enzymes.

Neomycin – An aminoglycoside antibiotic

Neomycin is used to prevent or treat skin infections caused by bacteria. Is bactericidal in action and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis through irreversible binding to the 30 S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria.
