Combination of Drotaverine and Aceclofenac relieves abdominal pain and cramps.
Pharmacology
Drotaverine
Drotaverine is an anti-spasmodic medicine which relieves spasms associated with smooth muscles.
It exerts its action by inhibiting phosphodiesterase enzyme IV. This will leads to a decrease in cyclic AMP level and reduction in calcium ions (Ca2+). The reduction of calcium ions will dilate the muscles and blood vessels strongly and relieve spasm of smooth muscles.
Pharmacokinetics
Drotaverine is rapidly absorbed after oral administration. It is widely distributed in protein bound form. Extensively metabolized in the liver and is excreted mainly with the bile.
Aceclofenac
Aceclofenac is NSAID that inhibits the prostaglandins synthesis and relieves pain and inflammation
Indications
Smooth muscle spasm
Gastrointestinal colic pain
Renal colic pain
Post-surgical spasm
Undesirable Effects
Diarrhoea, Nausea, Vomiting, Loss of appetite, Dryness in mouth, Dizziness, Feeling thirsty, Heartburn
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Drotaverine or Aceclofenac, severe renal impairment, severe hepatic impairment and severe cardiac impairment
Storage and Handling Instructions
Store protected from light and moisture at a temperature not exceeding 25 degree centigrade
